Thanks for visiting the website! We’ll assume that you’re a part of the Carr family; if you’re not well then you might find something interesting here. The website was created by Josh Carr for fun and out of a desire to stay connected to the family.
This is the Portal
You should consider this the main portal for all of the other Carr family websites. From here, you’ll be able to get to any branch of the Carr family tree (assuming it’s been set up). Each family can request a website to share photos, write updates, post family videos, etc. and they’ll become a branch of thecarrfamily.org. For example, Josh and Laura have thecarrfamily.org/joshandlaura — go ahead and click it to see our customized website (you can always click the “Portal” button in the menu bar to come back here). If you’d like to see a full list of the Carr family branches, click the word Branches in the menu above. Your last name does not need to be Carr to be a part of this website — we realize that would leave out a lot of extended family and people who have changed their names — so, if you want to join, just ask!
We know what it’s like to have countless emails and website logins so we made this easy. We’ve integrated the site with Facebook and Twitter. We’ve also added universal accounts: you can login to the website with an existing account like Facebook, Twitter, Google, AOL, Yahoo or OpenID. We’re pretty sure that everyone’s on Facebook (even Grandma has an account) so we’re integrating your updates into The Carr Family Facebook page. Any and all updates will make their way to your Facebook news feed if you click the “Like” button in the sidebar to the right. If you’re a fan of Twitter, you’ll be able follow @carrfamilyus to receive live updates from all of your relatives.
We have about 40 email addresses available if you’d like a “firstname.lastname@example.org” email address. They’re first come first serve. We signed up for a Google Apps account that gives us a 50-email limit. Increasing that limit costs a considerable amount of money… we have 40 left. The setup is amazingly simple for any device. Don’t worry; we’ll walk you through it.
Did you want a website? Maybe not, but this is really quite easy to get going… and it’s a great way for us to keep in touch. We’ve done all of the hard work and we’ll walk you through the rest of the way. We’ll also be posting help articles to the Blog page in order to explain different functions of the website. If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask… just check the blog for an answer first.
Head over to the Contact page and shoot us an email to get started.
